Desert Oasis

It’s amazing how many little lush green spots you can find in the desert… if you know where to look. We hiked a mile or so up an arroyo, following the small stream of snowmelt on its journey down from the mountains above. No sooner had we found a beautiful little shady spot among the mesquite trees, than Jen began stripping off her hiking clothes and pulling her sexy outfit from her backpack. Halfway through our photo shoot we had an older British gent (with a camera and large telephoto lens) wander by, wondering if we’d seen any birds in the area. In proper English style, he seemed oblivious to the fact that Jen was standing half naked just 30 feet away as he and I chatted. After a moment, I wished him luck and we went back to our picture taking. Suddenly, Jen said, “I think he’s taking pictures”. I looked behind me and sure enough, the old boy was about 100 ft. away, with his lens trained right in our direction. I just smiled and told her to keep going. After a few minutes the old gent waved and continued on his way down the creek bed. I wonder if he’ll ever share the story and pictures of the rare and beautiful bird he spotted that day?
